Salaam Family Week: A Space for LGBTQ Muslims and Their Families

  • Bas Relief Park 106 Bradford Street Provincetown, MA, 02657 United States (map)

Salaam Family Week is a space for LGBTQ Muslim families, people who come from Muslim families, and families with Muslim members. This is a safe space for us to share our experiences with “family” in all its complexity and power: choosing our families, building our families, and navigating our families of origin. Share, connect, pray, snack or just play. Open to people of all ages, genders, and experiences of Islam.

Hosted by Raquel Evita Saraswati, out queer Muslim who serves as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Family Equality Council. Personally, Raquel co-founded the Muslim Alliance for Sexual and Gender Diversity, which hosts a retreat for queer Muslims and their families every year. She is a well-known activist and commentator on issues related to Islam, the rights of sexual, gender and racial minorities in Muslim majority societies and communities, and is thrilled to host this space at Family Week for the first time!
