Hi families! As we gear up for our beloved Family Pride Parade, please note that we will assemble and end at Bas Relief Park. See you all soon!

Family Week COVID-19 Update

Dear Family Week families,

As you know, staying safe and having fun have been of the utmost importance to the Family Week team. Part of prioritizing the safety of your family is maintaining clear and open communication so that you can make informed decisions about your family’s health while in Provincetown.

To that end, we wanted to let you know that a few families have shared that they have tested positive for COVID.

So, as we head into our final day in PTown, we urge you to:

  • - Mask up!

  • - Clean your hands often, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • - Please stay home if you are currently or recently have been experiencing COVID-19 or other illness symptoms.

  • - Get tested.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. Joining all of you in Provincetown this year has been nothing short of magical, and we look forward to seeing you all at Family Week next year, July 22-29, 2023!

Sincerely,

The Family Week team

📝There’s still time to register!

That’s right! Every morning from 9-11am, the Family Equality team is in Bas Relief Park for check-in and registration—which means it’s not too late for families in PTown to register for our festivities!

Why register? Of course, having an understanding of how many families are joining us in Provincetown helps us plan the events accordingly, giving us a rough estimate for where we should host our festivities, how much food we should provide, and more. But it’s also critical to our work! Giving sponsors a clear picture of just how many people find Family Week so special helps us secure more support for this amazing week and our work beyond PTown. Also, being able to show our elected officials how many of us EXIST underscores the importance of creating laws and policies that protect us and our fundamental freedoms. Plus, understanding where our families come from and what matters to them helps us better address your needs all year-round. Data collection is essential to creating change—and that includes Family Week registration!

So, tell your friends to come on down to Bas Relief Park THIS MORNING to register today! Registration is free and open to all.

July 18, 2022

Dear Friends,

Show of hands: Who here is ready for Family Week?! It’s almost here! We are SO excited to see you and your families this weekend in beautiful Provincetown, MA. To ensure that we can make Family Week as magical as ever, we wanted to reach out and share some information about health and safety.

☀️ SAFETY

As always, we are closely monitoring any and all security concerns related to Family Week, due to activities in other places across the country. So far, we have no reason to believe that Family Week won’t be the safe and welcoming event that we have all come to know and love!

🌈  HEALTH

  • We encourage everyone to take precautions where they can to limit exposure to COVID-19 before coming to Provincetown. We also ask that everyone monitor their family for symptoms and stay home if anyone is feeling unwell.

  • While in Provincetown, please be aware of creating space between you and others if you are not vaccinated, are immunocompromised, or have concerns about your own health and wellbeing.

  • COLAGE registrants are required to have at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You can submit proof of vaccination via the Family Week release document that was e-mailed to COLAGE registrants on July 15th.

  • Currently, masks are not mandated in Provincetown. This means that some people will choose to mask at events, in restaurants, and around town—and some will not. We encourage you to make choices that are appropriate for your own personal health and safety.

  • You might have noticed that we are not holding any indoor programming unless specifically noted. But, we do encourage masks if you are in enclosed spaces.

  • If you’re ever unsure, we encourage you to test regularly, isolate when feeling ill, and let us know if you test positive for COIVD-19.

💜 WELL-BEING:

  • Please be sure to stay hydrated. Ptown offers many water stations around town to refill water bottles.

  • Don’t forget to pack your bug spray and your sunscreen!

  • As a reminder, as much as we’d like them to be, not all restrooms in Ptown are gender neutral.

🤝  CODE OF CONDUCT:

🏖 Things to know about Ptown this year:

  • Plastic water bottles are prohibited in Ptown. You will find either canned or boxed water sold around town. A great option for staying hydrated is to fill up your own water bottles when you head out for the day and then again around town at the provided water filling stations around town. Plan ahead to stay hydrated.

  • Got bit by mosquitos last year? We were able to get approved to spray for mosquitos at Motta Field this year. But don’t worry about harmful pesticides around your kiddos: This one uses garlic and lemongrass to keep them away. Don’t forget to pack your bug spray for other events!

  • Cross your fingers for clear weather. We packed so many events into Family Week that if we get significant rain, we’ll be likely to call events off and won’t be able to offer a ‘rain day’ with the exception of the outdoor movies. All updates, announcements, and changes to the schedule will be sent to you in our daily morning newsletter, in addition to being posted in the Family Week Facebook Group and on the Family Week website in the “Announcements” section!

  • There are bound to be some surprises around Ptown during Family Week. Watch out for fun characters and LEGO installations and don’t forget to share pics with #PtownFamilyWeek of all the fun memories you’ll make in Ptown!

Have questions about Family Week while you’re in Provincetown? Find someone in an orange shirt! Our staff is here to help!

Please note: We aim to respond to all inquiries sent to us via email and on the Facebook group as quickly as possible. We also aim to update you via our daily morning newsletter and our Family Week Facebook group as quickly as possible when changes arise. That being said, we’re a small (but mighty!) team, working hard on the ground to put on the best Family Week ever! June 23, 2022

Dear friends,

Family Week is only a month away! Are you as excited as we are?!

This year, Family Equality and COLAGE have scheduled many opportunities for your families to engage with fun events like…

  • COLAGE’s teen panel on Thursday! Families and community members are welcome to listen to teens talk about what it’s like to be a COLAGEr today—their challenges, their joys, and what they want to tell the world.

  • COLAGE’s beloved annual variety show on Friday where families can come watch as the COLAGErs showcase their creativity, projects and talents!  This is definitely something you don’t want to miss!

  • The LEGO Group’s Building in the Park at Bas Relief on Monday - Thursday mornings. That’s right, Building in the Park is back, AND they are bringing in their creative team to do fun LEGO art around town again. Don’t forget to snap some pics with them for our digital scavenger hunt!

  • Our first annual Family Night: Y’all Means All! It's time to shake off your coat of many colors and head two doors down to Motta Field for a new, fabulous fundraiser supporting the vital work Family Equality and COLAGE do every day. For those travelin’ thru Family Week, join us on July 28th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for a new-age, equitable, ole’ fashion family picnic filled with country cookin', games, and live music by The Doll Parts: a Dolly Parton cover band. The event is free for all to attend, but registration is highly encouraged. Come to show your support for Family Equality and COLAGE and stay for the free line dancing lessons. To learn more and register, click here.

  • New this year:

    • Offering babysitting services?  Hosting an AA meeting? Having a meetup of like-minded parents?  We’ll have a Community Board at Bas Relief Park where you can share your information for other Family Week attendees!

    • Ptown Pop By!  Stop by the Fire Station on Wednesday - Friday between 10-3 to meet Family Equality’s staff and learn more about the impactful work Family Equality is doing across the country to advance and defend the rights of LGBTQ+ families. Plus we’ll be handing out swag and (temporary) tattoos!

    • Want to get more involved?  Family Equality is looking for super enthusiastic folks who want to volunteer to do fun things like lead a family kickball game or help kiddos play the games at several different events.  Plus we are looking for volunteers who like helping with the less glamorous but oh-so-appreciated things like helping to clean up after events.  Please sign up here if you want to volunteer with Family Equality at Family Week this year!

 Helpful tips for Family Week:

  • Provincetown has implemented policies around plastic water bottles to reduce waste in their community.  Please plan on filling up your own reusable water bottles every morning and at public water stations across town. Stay hydrated!

  • All events are scheduled outdoors again this year.  While there is not a mask mandate, please be respectful of those families who choose to wear masks and practice social distancing.  If you feel sick or know you may have been exposed to COVID, please get tested and stay home to protect others.

  • Many local businesses are providing discounts or hosting special events during Family Week.  You will find more information in the Welcome Bags at Check-In!

Looking forward to seeing you all at Family Week!

May 31, 2022

Dear Family Week families,

It’s hard to believe, but Family Week is right around the corner! The Family Week team has been hard at work finalizing our fun-filled calendar of events for you and your family at the largest annual gathering of LGBTQ+ families in the world, which we’re excited to share with you today! Click here to view the schedule of events.

Get ready for a week of family-friendly events like…

  • Movies in the park with Warner Bros Discovery,

  • A brand new event called Family Night that includes food, drinks and over the top fun activities,

  • The chance to get physical with yoga and family hikes,

  • And lots of beach time, gathering with family and friends, and additional activities that our friends in Provincetown have put together just for Family Week.*

*Note: Our Community Partner events are affiliated with Family Week, but may have their own registration and fees to participate.  In most cases, there are limits to how many families can participate, so register early!

For folks who registered their family with COLAGE, enjoy a week of amazing youth programming with several events that are fun for the whole family.

A few additional notes to keep in mind:

  • One of the things we love about Family Week is how many people want to be part of this incredible gathering. So, don’t be surprised if there are additions to this calendar as we get closer to the actual week in Provincetown. Any changes or additions to the schedule will be shared via email in addition to being shared in our Family Week Facebook group and right here on the Announcements page of our Family Week website.

  • Of course, staying safe and having fun have been of the utmost importance to the Family Week team! As always, we are closely monitoring CDC guidelines and are in close conversations with our partners in Provincetown. When you review the schedule, you’ll notice that all of the events will be outside in the fresh air. Be sure to pack your sunscreen and plan to stay hydrated!

  • ASL interpreters will be available throughout the week. Please make note in your required registration questions if you need ASL interpretation, or have other accessibility needs for Family Week. We work with participants every year to make our spaces more accessible and speak honestly about the layout of events so participants can decide for themselves if the space will meet their accessibility needs.

Haven’t registered for Family Week yet? There’s still time to register for Family Equality’s Family Week programming! In years past, registration cost $100 per adult and $50 per youth (5+). We ask that you and your family reflect thoughtfully about your socioeconomic means and the importance of Family Week, and pay what you are able to support Family Equality’s ability to continue to provide these opportunities for connection.

Have questions about Family Week?  We got you covered!

We’re so excited about Family Week and hope you are too!

Thank you,

The Family Week team

Dear Family Week families,

The time has come! COLAGE & Family Equality are excited to announce that Family Week registration is officially OPEN!

To register for Family Equality's Family Week programming, click here.

Before you start packing your bags (we know, we're excited too!), please note:

  1. As in 2021, Family Equality’s registration will be pay-what-you-can in order to ensure that this programming reaches as many families as possible. In years past, registration cost $100 per adult and $50 per youth (5+). We ask that you and your family reflect thoughtfully about your socioeconomic means and the importance of Family Week, and pay what you are able to support Family Equality’s ability to continue to provide these opportunities for connection.

  2. As in 2021, Family Equality will not sponsor drop-off youth programming or any activities or events where children are dropped off by their families. Instead, Family Equality will create events for the entire family to connect with other families. We will also share local activities in and around Provincetown during Family Week. COLAGE, however, will be facilitating drop-off programming this year, albeit outdoors and on a smaller scale than usual.

  3. If you have any questions about registration, we encourage you to check out our FAQ page, where you will find answers to questions like, “What’s the difference between COLAGE and Family Equality registration?” and “What can we expect at Family Week?”

Of course, if you have any questions or want to share ideas, you can contact Family Equality’s Family Week team by clicking here and COLAGE by clicking here. In the weeks and months ahead, we will be emailing you with updates on what to expect. We are SO excited to see you in just a few short months. Let the countdown begin!

Thank you,

The Family Week team

March 01, 2022

We are just 5 months away from Family Week and are so excited to see you all in Provincetown this summer! Registration for Family Week will be opening on Friday, March 18th!

Ahead of registration, here are a few updates about Family Week this year.

Registration:

  • As in 2021, registration will be pay-what-you-can in order to ensure that this programming reaches as many families as possible. In years past, registration cost $100 per adult and $50 per youth (5+). We ask that you and your family reflect thoughtfully about your socioeconomic means and the importance of Family Week, and pay what you are able to support Family Equality’s ability to continue to provide these opportunities for connection.

COVID-19 Safety:

  • As we are still navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, our teams are working hard to ensure that we can all engage as safely as possible. To that end, we will be requiring proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to attend Family Week programming for all who are eligible for vaccination. All of our staff will be held to the same expectations as well. We are continuing to follow CDC guidelines, work with the Town of Provincetown, and will continue to share safety information leading up to and during Family Week.

Drop Off Programs:

  • As in 2021, Family Equality will not sponsor drop-off youth programming or any activities or events where children are dropped off by their families. Instead, Family Equality will create events for the entire family to connect with other families. We will also share local activities in and around Provincetown during Family Week. COLAGE, however, will be facilitating drop-off programming this year, albeit outdoors and on a smaller scale than usual.

If you have any questions or want to share ideas, you can contact Family Equality’s Program team by clicking here and COLAGE by clicking here.

Thank you,

Family Week COVID-19 Update

Dear Family Week families,

As you know, staying safe and having fun have been of the utmost importance to the Family Week team. Part of prioritizing the safety of your family is maintaining clear and open communication so that you can make informed decisions about your family’s health while in Provincetown.

To that end, we’ve identified a confirmed case of COVID-19 from a fully-vaccinated adult Family Week attendee. We are, of course, monitoring details closely and remaining in contact with the attendee, Provincetown officials, and COVID-19 compliance officers to ensure that we are following best practices and implementing all applicable guidelines to mitigate risks.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to cancel the following events: Beach Party (formerly known as the Pool Party), Space Jam, Regional Gathering, Pride Parade and both Parent and Family Yoga. COLAGE is also canceling their remaining events and will be in touch with registrants about replacement virtual programming tomorrow.

Here are some key notes:

  1. The adult who tested positive for COVID-19 was masked and at the Dads Gathering yesterday. They and their family are all vaccinated.

  2. The Dads Gathering was hosted outdoors on the beach. Almost all Family Week events took place outdoors because current data and recent CDC guidelines indicate that outdoor activities pose minimal risk to fully vaccinated people.

  3. Other members of this family attended the Beach Bash on Tuesday. The family is awaiting their COVID test results.

We understand that you may have additional questions about the details of this situation. As we try to share with you everything you need to know, please understand that we aren’t at liberty to share the name and identity of the family affected out of respect for their privacy.

Of course, no matter what precautions we take, we can’t prevent families from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while participating in activities in Provincetown. Thus, we urge you to:

  1. Mask up! Provincetown requires everyone (including children 2 years and older) to wear face coverings while indoors, in large groups, and/or in close proximity to those outside of their household. Now more than ever, we ask that all attendees (vaccinated or unvaccinated) wear face coverings while out and about in Provincetown.

  2. Clean your hands often, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  3. Please stay home if you are currently or recently have been experiencing COVID-19 or other illness symptoms.

  4. Get tested. COVID-19 testing is available for free at the Veterans Memorial Community Center parking lot at 2 Mayflower Street Thursday-Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. Joining all of you in Provincetown this year has been nothing short of magical, and we look forward to seeing you all at Family Week next year, July 23-30, 2022!

Sincerely,
The Family Week team

Provincetown COVID-19 Update

On Sunday July 25th, the Select Board & Board of Health approved to adopt an indoor mask mandate. All persons, regardless of vaccination status, must wear masks when indoors at any business in Provincetown.

Further, children under 12 and all unvaccinated people MUST wear masks outdoors at Family Week—in fact, why not make it a family affair and have EVERYONE in the group wear masks, too! Don't forget to pack your family favorites (glitter masks? Rainbow? Tie-dye?), but of course we'll have extras on hand if folks need them!

July 22, 2021

A message from the Family Equality Family Week team:

Hello Family Week families!

We are so thrilled to be joining you all in Provincetown in only a few short days! As you all know, Family Equality is committed to taking COVID-19 precautions during Family Week 2021. To that end, before we can all dive into a week of fun in the sun, we are requiring all adult registrants to sign this waiver prior to check-in.

Click here to sign the waiver electronically and streamline the check-in process! If there are other adults (everyone over 18) in your party who have registered for Family Equality’s Family Week events, please share this link with them and ask them to sign the waiver as well.

Once you’ve accessed the form, each adult will be able to submit the names of all the children (Youth & Littles registrants) in their care.

We need families to recognize the risks and join us in doing our best to mitigate them. So if you choose not to sign this waiver, sadly we have to ask you to not attend Family Equality’s Family Week events this year.

As you and your family prepare for the amazing week ahead in Provincetown, we remind you to:

  • Mask up! Children under 12 and all unvaccinated people MUST wear masks indoors and outdoors at Family Week. In fact, why not make it a family affair and have EVERYONE in the group wear masks too?! Show off your family favorites (glitter masks? Rainbow? Tie-dye?), and know that we will have extras on-hand if you need them!

  • Stay connected by joining the Family Week Facebook group where we will be posting daily updates and connecting with LGBTQ+ families, Provincetown businesses, and more.

  • Keep an eye on your inbox for daily news and updates related to Family Week. Note: if you have previously unsubscribed from Family Equality’s email list, you will not receive these daily emails. If you haven’t unsubscribed but still aren’t receiving our Family Week newsletters, check your junk folder!

  • Double-check the online schedule every morning for the most up-to-date event locations, times, and descriptions!

See you all soon!

Sincerely,

The Family Equality Family Week team

July 19, 2021

With recent news surrounding our favorite seaside town in MA, we wanted to reach out and share some precautions we’re taking to keep your family and our friends in Provincetown safe next week!

According to a recent Public Health Advisory released by officials in Provincetown, there have been 132 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Provincetown as of Friday, July 16—an increase in breakthrough cases spanning a wide range of ages and vaccination status. As always, Family Equality and COLAGE have been closely monitoring the situation, and we remain in contact with our on-the-ground partners in Provincetown. Here’s an overview of the COVID-19 precautions we are expecting families to follow while in Provincetown.

Keeping Provincetown Safe

If you plan on attending Family Week, please make sure to read the Public Health Advisory and make necessary adjustments to your plan for Family Week fun. Alongside our friends in PTown, we remind you that:

  • Everyone is encouraged to wear face coverings in large crowds, both indoors and outdoors. Attendees who are unvaccinated (including children) are required to wear proper face coverings when indoors, while in large groups, and/or when in close proximity to those outside of their household.

  • If you or anyone in your family are experiencing any COVID-19 or other illness symptoms while at Family Week, please stay home. COVID-19 testing is available for free at the Veterans Memorial Community Center parking lot at 2 Mayflower Street on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday-Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Crowds, especially in indoor spaces where social distancing is not achievable—as well as handshaking, hugging, and other forms of close contact—increase the risk of transmission of COVID-19. So, while Family Week staff are elated to be gathered together, don’t take it personally if we don’t reach out for a handshake or jump in for a hug!

  • As you enjoy all that PTown has to offer, don’t forget to read the signs outside of each establishment and respect each business’ “house rules” as it relates to COVID-19.

Family Week Schedule Changes

The Family Week team is taking additional precautions to ensure the safety of you and your family. This includes reevaluating some of our scheduled events.

We recognize that the situation in Provincetown changes daily, and as news develops, there may be changes to our schedule of events. Our aim is to always keep you informed and up-to-date! To that end, please keep an eye on your inbox, check our schedule online for updates, join our Family Week Facebook group, and reach out to the emails below if you have any questions.

From the moment Family Equality and COLAGE began planning Family Week 2021 last year, the health and safety of our families have always been at the forefront of our minds. This remains truer than ever as we look forward to one of our favorite weeks of the year!

Can’t wait to see you all soon,

The Family Week Team

If you have any questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 guidelines or precautions, please feel free to reach out to Family Week staff by emailing Family Equality or COLAGE.

July 15, 2021

We are overjoyed to be with you all again in Provincetown celebrating Family Week. This year will be different in so many ways, the most notable of which is the presence of COVID-19 and the need for preventative measures. Staying safe and having fun are of the utmost importance to us as we plan for a week of community, connection, and sunshine.

As you have reviewed the schedule, you’ve likely noticed a few changes:

  • With the exception of registration, all Family Equality events are held outdoors for maximum ventilation and ease of social distancing.

  • We are encouraging you to pack your own snacks, beverages + food to bring along to our outdoor events.

  • We will have masks and hand sanitizer available at all Family Equality events throughout the week, and of course – we welcome you to bring your own!

Per CDC guidelines:

  •  All attendees who are unvaccinated (including children) are asked to wear proper face coverings while in large groups and/or in close proximity to those outside of their household.

  •  We also encourage vaccinated folks to wear face coverings in large crowds and while indoors.

While we recognize that many adults are vaccinated, we also know that many children and youth are not. Please keep this in mind when you’re making safety precaution decisions for you and your family. We urge you to practice proper handwashing as well as healthy hygiene practices all around!

It probably goes without saying, but if you or anyone in your family are experiencing any COVID-19 or other illness symptoms while at Family Week, please stay home. If necessary, the nearest testing location is Outer Cape Health Services located in Provincetown. COVID testing is being stepped up in Provincetown, with free, walk-up mobile testing to be available at the Veterans Memorial Community Center parking lot at 2 Mayflower Street on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday-Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In hopes of keeping everyone safe + healthy, we ask that everyone take the utmost precaution when deciding to attend Family Week events.

We are grateful to be gathering with families in Provincetown, and the opportunity to show local businesses and vendors some love! While you’re enjoying all that P-Town has to offer, it is especially important that families read the signs posted outside of each establishment regarding COVID-19 guidelines, as each business has its own house rules. We ask that you respect these guidelines while supporting local businesses!

Again, we could not be more excited to see you all in person in just a few weeks! If you have any questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 guidelines or precautions, please feel free to reach out to Family Week staff at programs@familyequality.org.

July 2, 2021

COLAGE & Family Equality could not be more excited to share the Family Week 2021 schedule with you all! Let the planning begin!

(Some events require additional registration, so keep an eye out for those.)

To view the Family Week 2021 Schedule, click here.

Friendly reminder that all of our events will be outdoor gatherings meant for the whole family. Families are encouraged to pack their own snacks as we won’t be providing food. Masks will not be required outdoors, but are recommended when we’re in close quarters, especially for unvaccinated people and children under 12.  These precautions allow us to keep our families safe while still having a blast!

We appreciate your patience and encouragement as we plan a meaningful Family Week for you and yours! We cannot wait to be together again!

Sincerely,
The Family Week Team

April 12, 2021

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback about upcoming summer hopes + plans as it relates to Family Week. COLAGE and Family Equality are working hard to ensure that we are able to provide a safe gathering for all the families who make the trip to Provincetown. We are also eagerly planning what virtual events will look like for our families throughout the month of July.

We continue to see good news from the CDC as it relates to vaccinations and travel, which is encouraging! Our partners in Provincetown will be meeting at the end of April to revisit town guidelines and restrictions as it relates to events + gatherings. Once this new guidance is issued, COLAGE and Family Equality will work together to provide another update.

Our goal is to have a fairly confirmed schedule of events (for both virtual and in-person gatherings) and to open registration on Monday, May 10th. Please stay tuned and know that we are very much looking forward to connecting with you and your families - either virtually or in Provincetown!

All our best,

The Family Week planning teams of COLAGE and Family Equality

March 9, 2021

Thank you to everyone who took time to share their feedback about upcoming summer hopes & plans as it relates to Family Week. COLAGE and Family Equality are working hard to ensure that we are able to provide a safe gathering for all the families who make the trip to Provincetown. We are also eagerly planning what virtual events might look like for our families throughout the month of July.

In the last update, Family Equality shared that there would not be any drop-off youth programming or any activities or events where children are dropped off by their families. COLAGE has also determined that drop-off youth programming is not feasible this year given the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic. COLAGE will be offering virtual programming options for youth during Family Week for families who choose not to travel to Provincetown and are actively working to plan safe and socially distanced gatherings in Provincetown for families still planning to make the trip.

For those of you planning to travel to Provincetown or interested in joining virtual activities, please take another couple of minutes to offer your thoughts to both COLAGE and Family Equality as we continue planning for the summer of 2021. Your feedback and ideas are most appreciated.

All our best,
The Family Week planning teams of COLAGE and Family Equality

February 4, 2021

As of right now, Family Equality continues to connect with our partners on the ground in Provincetown. Like many things this year, it is uncertain what gatherings and travel may look like in July. We will continue to monitor local, state, and federal guidelines as it relates to the pandemic, travel, and gatherings.

As we continue to work through the details of Family Week 2021, we're asking for your help! Please complete this brief survey to share your thoughts with the Family Equality team. We are eager to hear your feedback.

What we do know is this:

  1. Family Week 2021 is still scheduled for July 24–July 31, 2021.

  2. Out of an abundance of caution and in light of recent information regarding new strains of the virus and an increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19 in children, Family Equality will not sponsor drop-off youth programming or any activities or events where children are dropped off by their families. Instead, Family Equality will create events for the entire family to connect with other families. We will also share local activities in and around Provincetown during Family Week.

  3. Family Equality is working to plan virtual "Family Week" activities throughout the whole month of July so that people can participate in the Family Week fun even if they can't travel to Provincetown.

Again, participating in our survey will help us continue to plan for Family Week 2021 according to your needs. Click this link to complete the survey today.

November 30, 2020

Family Week is scheduled July 24-31, 2021. The Family Equality team remains in contact with our on-the-ground partners in Provincetown as we plan one of our favorite weeks of the year! Obviously, this is a changing landscape due to the COVID–19 pandemic. Like communities around the world, Provincetown has its own vulnerable populations, and the health and safety of their community as well as our families is paramount. We will continue to monitor local, state and federal guidance as it evolves surrounding large group gatherings.

Once Family Equality has additional information regarding registration, an overview, and a tentative schedule, that information will be shared. At this point, we are anticipating that this information will be available late January at the soonest. We appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to the time when we can all gather again safely in Provincetown and celebrate Family Week!

In the meantime, if you have any questions or want to share ideas, contact Kim Simes.

April 2, 2020

For 26 years, Family Week has been an opportunity to find community and lean on one another like no other. In the past several weeks, concerns around COVID-19 have increased dramatically. Like communities around the world, Provincetown has its own vulnerable populations, and the town is currently under a shelter-in-place policy.

As local, state and federal guidance evolves in this time of unprecedented uncertainty and we see other large destination events like the Tokyo Olympics be postponed or cancelled, we realize that the spirit of Family Week is not in the activities we plan or the place where we gather — it’s in the commitment we make to support, protect, and provide for one another no matter what.

In this spirit, Family Equality and COLAGE have made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel Family Week 2020.

This is absolutely the last decision we wanted to or expected to make, but the health and safety of our families and that of the community of Provincetown is of the utmost importance to us. We are confident that although we will not physically come together for Family Week this year, this beloved community will remain closer than ever.

The team at Family Equality are working hard to bring the Family Week spirit to your computer screens through The Neighborhood: A Virtual Hub for LGBTQ+ Families. From virtual happy hours to toddler dance parties and teen workshops, Family Week’s favorite activities will now be accessible to you year-round — at a time when we most need it. In addition, COLAGE will soon announce a new virtual programming schedule for Family Week, and the months leading up, for all youth age groups in- stay tuned for more updates!

And we are also setting our sights on Family Week 2021, which will no doubt shape up to be the biggest and best Family Week yet! Mark your calendars for Family Week 2021: July 24th - July 31st!

To answer your questions and come together as a community, the Family Week team will host a live Q&A in the Family Week Facebook group next week — stay tuned for more information about the date and time. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
