CCS: Spinnaker Tales & Tails

Join the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) for this family-friendly educational and fun activity. Learn about the life and death of a humpback whale named Spinnaker, whose skeleton is on display at CCS’s Marine Lab. Through slides and stories, learn all about whale natural history, biology, and the research CCS conducts to study and identify whales. Then get crafty and create your own whale tail, give it a name, and bring it home!

$5 per child, reservations recommended.

Morning Whale Time

The Center for Coastal Studies is once again offering a program for kids! This program gives kids the opportunity to learn about the wonderful world of whales and oceans. Each day will hold new fun activities and exciting new things to learn. From inspecting a whale skeleton to taking a closer look at what we can find in a tidal pool, kids will learn together.

Registration is capped at 15 kids. Monday to Wednesday, 10:30 am - 12 pm.

Ages: 6 - 8

Cost: $100/child

Join the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) for this family-friendly educational and fun activity. Head to the beach with a CCS Educator and become a junior marine biologist! Use a special net to collect samples from the shallow waters, then use a microscope to take an up-close look at the tiny marine animals that live in the harbor. Space is limited.

$5 per child, reservations recommended.

Join the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) for this family-friendly educational and fun activity. Kids will learn about the tools used by our Marine Animal Entanglement Response (MAER) team to free a whale or sea turtle trapped in fishing lines and gear; see videos, photos, and tools from actual disentanglement operations; and try their hand at “rescuing” a “whale.” Space is limited.
